3D Scanning Specialist — Creaform / Reverse Engineering / Inspection
About the Role
We are looking for a 3D Scanning Specialist who owns the full scanning workflow — from setting up the part on the table to delivering a clean CAD model or a signed-off inspection report. You should be comfortable with Creaform hardware and confident in turning scan data into engineering-grade output.
Job Description
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of hands-on experience operating professional 3D scanners (handheld and/or arm-mounted).
• Proven experience with the full scanning workflow: scan → mesh processing → CAD → inspection.
• Hands-on proficiency with Creaform scanners and VXelements.
• Strong reverse engineering skills (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Geomagic Design X, or equivalent).
• Experience producing dimensional inspection reports with GD&T.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret tolerances.
Preferred Qualifications
• Proficiency with Polyworks Inspector and/or Modeler (strong plus).
• Experience with photogrammetry, structured-light, or laser tracker workflows.
• Familiarity with aerospace or precision-manufacturing inspection standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
• CMM or portable arm (e.g., FARO) experience.
• Background in tooling, fixtures, or first-article inspection.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and execute 3D scanning jobs: part preparation, fixturing, targeting, lighting, and capture strategy.
• Operate Creaform handheld scanners to capture parts of varying size, finish, and complexity.
• Process raw scan data: alignment, mesh cleanup, hole filling, decimation, and export.
• Perform reverse engineering — convert meshes into parametric CAD models suitable for manufacturing or redesign.
• Perform first-article and in-process inspection: scan-to-CAD comparison, GD&T evaluation, and dimensional reporting.
• Produce clear, professional inspection reports for internal and customer use.
• Maintain and calibrate scanning equipment; manage targets, accessories, and software licenses.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to close the loop between as-designed and as-built parts.
